Shots Galore in Victory Over Francis Marion

Box Score Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put together an offensive performance for the ages in a 3-0 victory over the Francis Marion Patriots this afternoon at Pepsi Stadium. NGU recorded a staggering 41 total shots with twenty of them on goal. FMU posted thirteen total shots, four of them on goal. North Greenville grabbed the lead very early in the first half with a goal by Faith Knoedler but was unable to add to the lead for the remainder of the half. That continued into the second half until Romee Contreras came through with two goals within a two minute span late in the match. The victory allows the Crusaders to hold onto 3rd place in the Conference Carolinas standings.

  • North Greenville nearly grabbed the lead just seventeen seconds into the match, but offsides was called to keep things scoreless. However, just one minute later Faith Knoedler's goal would count this time to put NGU up 1-0 less than two minutes in. The offense would continue to be aggressive throughout the entire half as NGU would post a total of 24 shots while Francis Marion put up five. Nine saves would be required by the Patriots, but the half would eventually come to an end with the score remaining 1-0 in favor of NGU.
  • The aggressiveness would continue throughout the second half, with North Greenville recording seventeen shots and FMU improving with eight shots. The score remained the same for over thirty minutes into the second half, but Romee Contreras would finally find the back of the net again for the Crusaders with an assist by Megan Biehl to increase the lead. Contreras would then score a goal with an assist by Mackenzie Neff just over one minute later to make what would go on to be the final score of 3-0.
