North Greenville Dominant in Win Against Flying Fleet

Box Score North Greenville left Due West, South Carolina with a 61-51 victory over the Flying Fleet of Erskine College at Belk Arena. The Crusaders dominated the 1st half, leading by as much as 18. However, the Flying Fleet did not go down without a fight, drawing within five in the 3rd quarter. Immediately after, NGU put together a run that proved to be enough to stay on top for the victory. Haylee Luttrell led North Greenville with a 14 point performance.

Recap
  • North Greenville would start the game on a 12-0 run, with eight of those points scored by Haylee Luttrell. Eight minutes would pass before Erskine was finally able to get on the board by way of a three pointer. After the run, Kira Bell would score five more points for the Crusaders to give NGU a 16-4 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.
  • The Crusaders once again began the 2nd quarter on a run, scoring seven straight to take a 25-4 lead. Erskine would go on an 8-2 run to end the half, but North Greenville would remain in a comfortable 27-12 lead going into halftime. NGU shot 35.3% from the field.
  • NGU would start the 3rd with a 9-2 run. Erskine responded with a 13-3 run to get back within striking distance. Haylee Luttrell and Sarah Cline would each score layups late in the quarter, but the Flying Fleet would respond with the final four points to get back within twelve points.
  • Erskine began the 4th quarter with the momentum, scoring seven straight to draw within five. However, Savannah Hughes connected with a big three pointer to stop the Erskine momentum. Journey Muhammad would score a three pointer of her own to put the Crusaders back up by eleven. From there, the two teams would spend the next several minutes trading points so keep the Crusaders up by a comfortable amount, eventually winning by ten.

  • Haylee Luttrell led the way with 14 points and also recorded 8 rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal.
  • Savannah Hughes posted 11 points, 4 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
  • Kira Bell neared a double-double with 9 points and 16 rebounds.
