Box Score North Greenville suffered its first loss in conference play with a final score of 3-0 against the Limestone Saints in Gaffney, South Carolina. The Crusaders were competitive, but were unable to put together significant runs throughout the match. Brandon Baker posted 8 kills and 21 total attacks.
Set one began with an early 7-3 run by Limestone. Later in the set, the Saints seemingly put the set away with a 4-1 run to lead 18-14, but NGU would respond with three points in a row to pull within one. In response, Limestone would pull away late with a 7-2 run to end the set with a 25-19 set win.
The second set began on an even note, but that would change when LC recorded an 11-3 run to take a 19-12 lead. From there, North Greenville put up a strong fight, scoring nine of the next thirteen points. However, the Saints were able to string together two points to win the second set with a score of 25-21.
A solid start by Limestone to begin set three resulted in a 10-6 lead. The Crusaders would come back and even take the lead with five straight points to lead 11-10. From there, Limestone would end any doubt by posting a 15-7 run to end the match with a 25-18 set victory.
NGU will face the Campbellsville Tigers at Hayes Gymnasium on Saturday, February 8th.
