Five Game Win Streak Ends in Loss to Tornado

North Greenville traveled up to Bristol, TN on Tuesday to take on the conference leading King Tornado. NGU would put up a strong effort late, but would eventually lose the match 3-1. Freshman Cade McGee would lead the Crusaders with 16 kills on a .263 attack percentage.

Set 1

Set one would be a back and forth battle between the Crusaders and Tornado. The set would see 6 lead changes before King would capitalize on an NGU service error and kill to take the set 25-23.

Set 2

Set 2 North Greenville would put the first point on the board before quickly losing it on a 3-point run by King. The Crusaders would keep it close until a huge 5-point run by the Tornado would seal them set two. King took the set 25-18.

Set 3

Set 3 would be no different than the previous two sets with both teams trading punches back and forth. North Greenville would find themselves on the verge of losing 23-22 before scoring three straight points to take set 3, 25-23.

Set 4

The final set was once again close early before it was NGU who would go on a 5-point and an 18-13 lead late. King would go on a 4-point streak of their own to tie it up and eventually go on to win the set, 25-21.

Individual

Cade McGee would lead the Crusaders with 16 kills on 38 attempts and 4 digs.

Jackson Gilbert would turn in a strong performance of his own finishing with 15 kills and 11 digs.

Freshman Sergio Carillo would do a good job setting up his teammates finishing with 36 assists along with two kills of his own.

The Crusaders will travel to Belmont-Abbey to face the Crusaders on Tuesday, February 19 at 7 P.M.
