Box Score The North Greenville Crusaders put together a dominating performance in a 4-0 shutout of the Lees-McRae Bobcats in Banner Elk, North Carolina. NGU outshot the Bobcats in total shots 19-6 as well as shots on goal 13-3. Megan Biehl added two more goals to increase her season total to six.
NGU instantly went to work with three shots in the first five minutes with two of them by Megan Biehl. Biehl would then come through with the first goal of the match in the eleventh minute of the game with an assist by Abby Robinson. Just prior to the 20th minute, Biehl struck again with an unassisted goal to put the Crusaders up by two. Abby Robinson would score a goal of her own with an assist by Sarah Hazelwood just two minutes later. The half would end with NGU up 3-0.
Although four of Lees-McRae's six shots took place in the second half, the NGU defense held strong to preserve the shutout. All three NGU goalkeepers saw action in the contest. Freshman Lizzy Luzzi had her first collegiate start and freshman Karly Wolford saw her first action. In the final minute, Shelby Shepherd scored her first goal of the season with an assist by Taylor Harvey.
The Crusaders will return to Tigerville to take on the Converse Valkyries on Saturday, October 5th.
