Chandler Sets Program Record as Crusaders Defeat Trojans

Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville began the week with quite an offensive day, beating the Trojans of Anderson University 15-7. Coming off of being named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, Jeffrey Chandler picked up where he left off to begin the new week with a school-record nine RBIs and four hits including two home runs. Brent Herlong recorded his first win of the season, and Sal Lovaglio earned his second save.

How it Happened

  • After a scoreless 1st, North Greenville produced three runs in the 2nd including a 2-RBI double by Jeffrey Chandler.
  • Anderson came storming back in the top of the 3rd with five runs including a grand slam by Chandler Castleberry. The next batter, Matthew Overton, homered as well.
  • NGU responded in the bottom of the 3rd with two runs to tie the game. Ryan Brown and Chandler both hit RBI-singles.
  • Utah Jones would record two RBIs in his next two at bats, one in the 4th and one in the 6th, to give the Crusaders a 7-5 lead.
  • In the 7th, Chandler blew the game open with a three-run home run to center field. Two more runs would score in the inning as Jared Williams and Utah Jones hit RBI-singles.
  • AU scored a run in the top of the 8th when former Crusader, Brandon Odachowski, homered to left center.
  • Chandler would hit his second three-run home run of the game in the bottom of the 8th.
  • Sal Lovaglio, who pitched the final 3.2 innings for NGU and earned the save, allowed one run in the 9th by way of a wild pitch. He would then strike out the final batter to end the game.
