Shearer's Goal Leads Crusaders Past Bobcats

Tigerville, SC - Emma Shearer scored her second goal of the season as the Crusaders upset the Georgia College Bobcats 1-0. The Bobcats came into the match ranked 13th in the latest Division II Top Drawer Soccer power rankings. GC would put up 26 shots, but the NGU defense would hold strong to complete the upset.

1st Half

Ariana Perry put up the first shot of the match, but Georgia College would ultimately lead the first half in shots 9-3. Two of North Greenville's shots came in the final 15 minutes, but the half would eventually end scoreless.

2nd Half

NGU found the back of the net in the 50th minute, which started with a corner kick that bounced around before Emma Shearer scored the goal. From there, Georgia College became aggressive on offense, putting up 17 total shots in the second half with just 2 shots going to NGU. With several key saves by Brianna Rowe and a number of blocked shots by the defense, North Greenville was able to hold off the Bobcats for the win.

Individual

Emma Shearer scored the lone goal for the Crusaders. The goal was her second of the season.

Karly Denaburg led NGU in shots with 2 total. 

Brianna Rowe recorded 9 saves, which ties her season high for saves in a match.

North Greenville will remain in Tigerville to face the Chowan Hawks on Saturday, October 6th.
