Box Score The North Greenville Crusaders ended their regular season in style with a 5-0 win over the Converse Valkyries in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Karly Denaburg had quite a match with two goals as well as an assist. In addition, NGU also took over second place in the Conference Carolinas standings with Belmont Abbey losing their match today against Chowan.
1st Half
Just over three minutes into the half, Karly Denaburg put the Crusaders on the board with her fourth goal of the season. Mary Courtney Puryear nearly added a goal about a minute later, but her shot bounced off the post. In the 18th minute, Puryear would strike this time with her second goal of the season and an assist by Karly Denaburg. Gleed would score her third goal of the season around four minutes later with an assist by Jamie Shutt to put NGU up 3-0. A fourth goal would come across the board in the 29th minute by Karla Cruse, her fourth of the season. North Greenville put up the last three shots of the half before time would expire and would record ten total shots in the half.
2nd Half
Just under two minutes into the second half, NGU put up the fifth and final goal of the match when Karly Denaburg scored for the fifth time this season and was assisted by Michaela Gleed. In the 62nd minute, Annie Miller entered the game to relieve Briana Rowe at goalkeeper. Miller recorded her first save of the season in the 74th minute. North Greenville was able to record the final five shots of the match and totalled 21 for the entire match.
Individual
Karly Denaburg had quite an impressive performance to end the regular season with 2 goals as well as 1 assist.
Michaela Gleed recorded a goal and an assist. She has now scored a goal in 3 consecutive matches.
Mary Courtney Puryear recorded a goal and 2 total shots.
Kayla Cruse scored the only goal of the 2nd half.
