Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville baseball team lost its second straight game for just the second time this season losing to the Trojans of Anderson College 4-3 after a late inning rally fell just short.

The Trojans did the early damage to NGU, scoring a run in the 1^st inning, and 3 runs in the third. The Crusaders squandered their best scoring chance of the day in the 6^th when they failed to score with 2 runners in scoring position.

Anderson clung to a 4-0 lead until the 8^th inning when NGU’s offense got hot. The Crusaders scored 3 runs on 5 hits. 9 hole hitter Taylor Hollifield got the action started after leading off the inning with a single to left field. Hollifield was followed up by Markus Duckworth who also singled.

With bases loaded and 2 outs, senior shortstop David Frazier came through for NGU, platting two runs with an RBI single to left field. Derek Fulmer would advance to 3^rd on Frazier’s base knock, and later score on a single from Allen Staton. The Trojans would exit the inning without further damage, stranding 2 NGU base runners.

Anderson went down in order in the top of the 9^th, and the Crusaders seemed to carry their offensive momentum from the 8^th into their half of the 9^th. The Trojans got the opening out of the inning, but the next two batters reached for NGU, both on Anderson errors. It looked promising for NGU, but the Trojans would go on to get the next two batters on a strike out and a groundout, ending the threat, and the game.

The Crusaders and Trojans have now split the season series at one game a piece after NGU won the first meeting between the two squads, 10-1 in February. The Crusaders are 16-8 overall on the season, and a solid 8-1 in Conference Carolinas play.
