Tigerville,S.C.—The North Greenville volleyball team took is
a step closer to a post season conference tournament birth after taking a 3-0
decision from Pfeiffer University. The Crusaders improved to 10-11 on the
season and 4-5 in Conference Carolinas play.
The Crusaders were once again led by standout junior Rebekah
Mayes who booked her 10th double double of the season with 18 kills
and 12 digs. Also scoring in double digits for NGU was freshman Samantha Del
Toro, who had 10. Del Toro also lead all players with 4 service aces. Freshmen
Taylor Dupes registered a career high 12 digs leading all defenders along with
Mayes, and Abigail Frame had 10 digs with 31 assists for a double double.
The Crusaders were solid on offense registering a .360
hitting percentage while committing just 10 attack errors. Defensively the
Crusaders charted 60 digs as a team while also playing strong at the net with
four solo blocks and five assists. Del Toro led the way with one solo and three
block assists.
For the Falcons, Kelly Lancellot led the way with seven
kills and two aces. Milana Mervosh led the defense with 8 digs while Megan
Davis and Cate Glendenning shared the assists lead with 10 a piece.
The Crusaders improved to 5-3 in Hayes Gymnasium. The win
over Pfeiffer wrapped up a three
game home stand for the Crusaders. NGU will hit the road on Saturday for a Conference
Carolinas matchup with the Barton Bulldogs.
