Tigerville, S.C.— Four Players scored in double figures as
the Lady Crusaders erased a 20-point deficit to beat the Limestone saints 77-75
in comeback fashion.
The first 20 minutes of the mid-day contest saw three lead
changes and three ties. The Crusaders’ biggest lead of five came at the 17:45
mark of the first half. North Limestone carried a 19-point advantage into
halftime.
The Crusaders quickly cut into the Limestone lead and with
5:15 left in the game trailed by only five points after an Erin Gray hit a five
foot jumper. Limestone responded with a two points but Krisceda Cotton cut the
lead back to five with a two pointer of her own.
NGU finally gained the lead with 1:03 left in the game after
Christina Carlis made two free throws. The Crusaders maintained a two point
lead into the final seconds of the game as limestone gained possession of the
ball. With less than a second left the limestone point guard found a wide open
Kaileigh West under the basket but west missed a point blank layup which would
have sent the game into overtime.
The missed layup also gave the Crusaders the 77-75 win and a
bit of revenge over Limestone who had beat North Greenville earlier in the 2010
season.
Christina Carlis and Karly Stache led NGU with 14 points.
Erin Gray (13) and Krisceda Cotton (12) also scored in double digits. Cotton
also led the team with 9 rebounds.
With the win the Crusaders improve to 3-7 with one game left
before the team breaks for Christmas.
