Baker Puts Up Strong Numbers, but NGU Falls to King

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville suffered a 3-0 sweep against the Tornado of King University. The Crusaders improved their attack percentage throughout the match, but ultimately fell just short in sets two and three. Brandon Baker put together a solid performance, posting 15 kills, 31 total attacks, and 5 digs.

Set one began with a quick run by the Tornado to lead 5-2. King would hang on to a slim lead with NGU putting up a fight to stay within striking distance. However, the Tornado would end the set on an 11-4 run to take a 25-16 set victory to open up the match.

After another even start to the second set, King would once again pull away with six consecutive points to take a 10-5 lead. The Crusaders were slowly able to dig into the deficit before eventually tying things up at 19-19. A race to the finish would end up being won by King, who would take the set 25-23.

The Tornado would take yet another early lead to begin set three, but NGU would respond and go on to take a 10-9 lead. Late in the set, North Greenville posted a 5-0 run to lead 23-20 and seemingly have the set in hand. However, King would end the match on a mission, taking the final five points to win the set 25-23 and take the match.

NGU will return to action on Friday, February 14th to face the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, North Carolina.
