North Greenville loses to Mount Olive in league match

Mount Olive, N.C. – North Greenville men’s volleyball hit just .288 as a team on Friday night as Mount Olive earned a 3-1 win over the Crusaders.

Three players for the Crusaders had double-digit spikes including Matthew McManaway who finished the night with 14-kills. Aaron Campbell tacked on 12-kills while Ben Hamsho had 10. McManaway led the team with four total blocks While Alexander Schinzing had 12-digs to go along with 38-assists.

North Greenville opened the evening with a 25-21 win over the Trojans in the first set. The Crusaders had their best offensive performance of the night, delivering 17-kills with just three errors while the Trojans had their worst showing of the night. NGU led by as many as four points in the frame, using a Matthew McManaway kill to put the game away.

The Trojans earned a 25-18 win over NGU in the second set to even the series at 1-1. The second set loss seemed to shake up the traveling Crusaders who never seemed to recover. A 25-16 loss in the third set would put NGU in a 2-1 hole. NGU followed up the third set loss with its least productive offensive showing of the night, dishing out just nine kills to go along with six errors. The Crusaders hit .107 in the final set as Mount Olive earned a 25-19, game clinching win.

The Crusaders fell to 3-8 overall and 3-2 in league player after the loss to Mount Olive. North Greenville will take on Barton College on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
