Tigerville, SC – Brandon Baker, a 6-6 outside hitter from Windsor, CT, has signed a NCAA National Letter of Intent during the NCAA’s early signing period to play for the men’s volleyball team at North Greenville University in the fall of 2017, it was announced by head coach Dr. Fred Battenfield. He plans to major in accounting.
Baker was the Most Valuable Player of the Connecticut State Championships and led his team to the state title at South Windsor High School for Coach Peter Manneggia, Jr. last season. He was also named to the All-State and All-Conference teams.
He competed for the Husky Volleyball Club and also the Mizuno East Volleyball Club during the club season, and his team finished third at the national club tournament.
He played for Coaches Ryan Minzer-Woodcock and Lou Gianacopolos.
“Brandon is an emerging player who has tremendous ball handling skills and is just beginning to grow into his body,” Coach Battenfield said. “He’s a very young senior and when he gets into the weight room and gets stronger, he will be a shocker on the court in the very near future. He’s only been playing volleyball for three years, but when he puts everything together, he will be an incredible asset to NGU volleyball.”
Also a tremendous scholar-athlete, Baker has been a consecutive member of South Windsor’s Honor Roll. He is the son of Arthur and Deanna Baker.
