Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville dropped just its second Conference Carolinas of the season Saturday afternoon as Barton earned a 3-0 win over the Crusaders.
The Crusaders struggled on the offensive side of the net, hitting at just a .210 clip in three sets. Jon Childes lead the offensive charge with 12-kills while Luuga Vailu'u had 10. The Crusaders had four service aces while Alexander Schinzing dished out a team high 29 assists.
The Crusaders picked up the first point in each of the three sets but could never find a rhythm. The Bulldogs earned a 25-22 win to set Saturday's pace as NGU had its best frame of the day with 14 kills on 29 attempts. Barton would earn the 2-0 lead in the second set with a convincing 25-16 decision.
North Greenville looked to get something going in the third set, jumping out to an 11-8 lead. Barton would score the next three points to even the tally at 11-11. North Greenville would answer with a kill from Childes but the Bulldogs would answer with two straight to take a 13-12 lead. The two teams would trade points until Barton jumped out to a 17-15 lead. The two point cushion would be all the Bulldogs needed as North Greenville ran out of answers in the 25-21 defeat.
The Crusaders fell to 3-2 on the season and 3-2 in league play. NGU will host King University on February 4th at 7pm in Hayes Gymnasium.
