High Point, N.C. – Three North Greenville men’s volleyball players were honored by the league on Friday afternoon for their outstanding play during the 2016 volleyball season.
Dustin King, a libero from Haines City, Florida earned an All-Conference Second Team Nod while Luuga Vailu’u (Papakolea Honolulu, Hawaii) and Jon Childes (Greenville, South Carolina) earned third team honors.
Dustin King was NGU’s undisputed leader on defense, racking up 250 digs on the season. King averaged 2.72 digs per set and an outstanding receiving percentage of .93, committing just 25-errors in 365 attempts.
Luuga Vailu’U wrapped up the 2016 season as one of NGU’s best offensive threats. The sophomore from Hawaii was second on the team with 223-kills on the season. Vailu’U was also a threat on defense, leading the Crusaders with 73 total blocks including 22 solo and 51 assists. He also had 16 service aces for the Crusaders.
Jon Childes made a huge splash for NGU in his first year with the program. The transfer from Clemson led the Crusaders with 226-kills, averaging 2.63 per set. Childes also dished out 21 aces.
