NGU falls to Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas tilt

Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville dropped its 11th game of the season on Tuesday night following a 3-1 loss to Belmont Abbey.

Errors on offense led to a tough first set as NGU fell behind early. The Crusaders from Belmont Abbey took advantage of .176 hitting percentage from North Greenville as they took a 25-19 win. NGU had 15-kills in the first frame but committed nine attack errors. Belmont Abbey finished with 10-kills and just one error on the offensive end.

The second set would flip flop as NGU's offense led the way. The Crusaders corrected the ship, improving almost .300 points in percentage. Jon Childs racked up three kills in the set while McManaway and Vailu'u added two kills of their own. The Crusaders biggest lead of the game came at 13-9. BAC battled back later in the frame to pull to within three but back-to-back kills from Vailu'u and Arelus would give NGU the 25-20 victory.

Belmont Abbey would earn a 25-20 win in set three followed by a 25-21 win in the fourth hand NGU its 11th setback of the season and eighth in Conference Carolinas play. The Crusaders now sit at 11-11 on the season overall and 6-8 in league play.

Jon Childes led NGU with 16-digs while Matthew McManaway knocked down 11-kills. Alexander Schinzing finished the night with 43 assists. Dustin King led North Greenville defensively with 13-digs while Aaron Campbell led the Crusaders with two service aces.

North Greenville will travel to Mount Olive on April 1st for a 7pm first serve.
