Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville fell to 11-8 on the season, Thursday night, following a 3-0 loss to Erskine College.
The Crusaders hit .226 as a team, knocking down 27-kills. Luuga Vailu'u led NGU with eight kills while Connor Rhine and Jon Childes had six each. Grayson Lawrence led North Greenville with 25-assists while Dustin King led the defense with five digs. Matthew McManaway had three assisted blocks to lead the Crusaders at the net.
North Greenville led briefly in the first set before the Fleet gained a 14-13 edge. NGU evened the score four times, but three-consecutive errors by the Crusaders would give Erskine a 22-19 lead. NGU would score twice more but the Fleet would go on to take a 25-21 win to open the match.
North Greenville fell behind quickly in the second set as Erskine jumped out to a 15-9 advantage. The Crusaders would come on strong in the end to cut the lead to 23-21 before a kill and an NGU error earned the Flying Fleet a 25-21 win and a 2-0 set lead.
North Greenville ran out of gas in the third frame as Erskine once again opened up a big lead. A kill by Roberto Perez would give the Fleet a 17-9 lead over NGU just past the midway point. Erskine would go on to win the set 25-15 as North Greenville fell to 6-6 in league play.
The Crusaders will travel to Hartsville, South Carolina to take on Coker College Friday evening at 7pm.
