Tigerville, S.C.—The NGU Men's Volleyball Team wrapped up its first regular season on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Limestone College.
The Crusaders finished the regular season 10-19 overall and 4-13 in league play but notched the program's first playoff birth after a Lees-McRae loss to Erskine this afternoon. NGU helped itself with a win against the Bobcats and King University in its previous two conference games.
The Crusaders behind after the Saints took a 25-21, set one win. The roles reversed in set two as NGU took the 25-21 decision to even the score at 1-1. North Greenville struggled offensively hitting just .153 for the day. Luuga Vailu'U and Matthew McManaway led NGU with 14 kills each. Alexander Schinzing had 44 assists while Connor Rhine had 12 digs to lead the defense. The Crusaders excelled at the service line earning 12 aces.
Limestone would take wins of 26-24 and 25-20 in the third and fourth sets to lock up the team's 10th league win of the season. The Crusaders will take a week to gear up for the league playoffs which start next weekend. NGU will take the 8th seed and will likely play Pfeiffer University.
