CRUSADERS LOCK-UP FIRST PLAYOFF BIRTH

Banner Elk, N.C.—The North Greenville Men's Volleyball Team locked up its first Conference Carolinas birth for the first year program Wednesday night after a 3-1 win over Lees-McRae College.

Matthew McManaway and Luuga Vailu'u combined for 34 kills after knocking down 17 a piece. Alexander Schinzing dished out 44 assists for the Crusaders while Dustin King finished the night with 15 digs on defense to lead all defenders.

NGU fell behind early after the Bobcats earned a 25-20 set win. The Crusaders looked to fall behind 2-0, midway through the second set, but a late comeback would earn NGU the 25-22 win. The Crusaders finished the set on a 5-2 run capped off by a kill from Curtis Westra.

NGU would carry the set two momentum in the final two frames the Crusaders took wins of 25-20 and 25-23. North Greenville saved its best offensive set for the third set as a .536 hitting percentage would propel it to a 2-1 lead.

The Crusaders would lead for most of the way in the fourth, but a late rally by the Bobcats would pull Lees-McRae to within one after trailing 24-20. The run for LMC would end on an attack error though as NGU benefited from the miscue to take the 3-1 win.

North Greenville will wrap up the 2015 regular season on Saturday afternoon with a conference match with Limestone College.
