NORTH GREENVILLE RALLIES LATE TO KNOCK OFF HOLY NAMES

Tigerville, S.C. - The Crusaders overcame a 12-9 deficit in fifth set of Tuesday's match en route to a 3-2 win over Holy Names University.

The Hawks out hit the Crusaders .270 to .171 on Tuesday night as NGU was forced to overcome a 1-0 set lead after the Hawks took game one 25-17. NGU rebounded to earn the game two win 26-24 but still hit under .200. The two squads would split the third and fourth sets as the Hawks earned the set three win 25-21 while North Greenville extended the match to a fifth game with a 25-18 win.

North Greenville fell behind late in the tiebreaker, but came storming back using three consecutive attack errors from the Hawks to pull even at 12. The Crusaders would score three of the next four points, including two kills from Matthew McManaway to earn the 15-13 set five win. Connor Rhine also dished out a kill in the final three points as NGU improved to 8-12 on the season.

McManaway led North Greenville with 19 kills on 37 attempts Tuesday night while also picking up four assisted blocks. Connor Rhine finished with 11 kills while both Luuga Vailu'u and Curtis Westra had 10 each. Dustin King returned to the floor on Tuesday night and had a solid game leading all players with 21 digs while Alexander Schinzing dished out 43 assists.

North Greenville will host Emmanuel College on March 17th at 7pm in Hayes Gymnasium.
