Tevin Richardson named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year for men's track;

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The 2017 Conference Carolinas Men's and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship was held last Friday and Saturday at Southern Wesleyan University’s Track and Field complex in Central, S.C. The University of Mount Olive captured both the men’s & women’s titles after posting team scores of 252 and 238.5 points respectively.

Limestone College's Marquett Simmons Jr. was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Year after notching 20 points on a pair of first-place finishes in the 100m and 200m dashes. University of Mount Olive’s Leah Hanle scored 26 points for the Trojans along the way to being named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Year. Hanle scored on a first place finish in the steeplechase along with two second place finishes in the 5000m and 10000m runs.

Mount Olive’s Nick Greyno and Hannah Glover swept the Male and Female Field Athletes of the Year. Greyno had a spectacular weekend earning 32 total points with a first place discus finish followed-up with two second place finishes in the hammer and shot put along with a third in the javelin. Glover tallied 22 points with two first place finishes in the hammer and discus along with a seventh place finish in the javelin.

North Greenville University’s Tevin Richardson and Mount Olive's Taylor Moncrief took home Freshman of the Year honors.  Richardson collected 16 points while Moncrief totaled 22 points each for their teams.

Matt van Lierop of Mount Olive also swept Coach of the Year honors for both the men’s & women’s awards after leading the Trojans to victories in both the Conference Carolinas Men's and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships
