High Point, N.C. – Three Conference Carolinas top student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence both athletically and academically are the Conference Carolinas Winter Scholar Athletes, as voted on by the student-athlete affairs committee.
This award is presented annually to a student-athlete for each sport in recognition of their outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom.
Candidates for each sport are submitted by each member institution, with no limit on the number of nominees as long as they meet both athletic and academic qualifications.
Academically, all juniors and seniors who have attended their member institution for at least one year and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on the four-point scale are eligible for nomination. Scholar Athletes of the Year must also be represented on their sport’s first, second, or third all-conference team, the rosters of which are chosen by coaches at the end of each playing season.
Jonathon Williams continues to excel in the classroom and on the track, racking up his second Winter Scholar Athlete of the Year honors. Williams exemplifies being a student-athlete as the team captain while majoring in Health and Wellness with a minor in Biology.
The Irmo, South Carolina native, holds the school record in the distance medley race. He earned Runner-Up in the 4x400 meter race this year for the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field championship. Williams is also an All-Region performer
