CRUSADERS HAVE STRONG SHOWING AT CONFERENCE CAROLINA”S CHAMPIONSHIP

Banner Elk, N.C. - Both track teams had a strong showing in the Conference Carolinas Championship meet.

On the men's side Junior Devin Wannamaker had a second place finish in the 110 meter hurdles (14.54), a third place finish in the 100 meter dash (10.63), and a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (53.66). Freshman Tre' Black had a second place finish in the 800 meter run (1:54.65), and fellow freshman Jordan Sumpter finished second in the 400 meter dash (47.70). The men's 4X400 meter relay finished first (3:14.51) composed of Trae Bonner, Tre' Black, Ravon Wamer, and Jordan Sumpter.

On the women's side of the track events Sophomore Zoe Engwall had an eighth place finish in the 1500 meter run (5:17.76). Junior Ambria Shaw had a seventh place finish in the 400 meter dash (59.41). Freshman Anel Miranda-Smith had a fifth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.94). Sophomore Amanda Ward had a fourth place finish in the 10,000 meter run (41:48.42), and an eighth place finish in the 5000 meter run (20:15.04). The women's 4X400 meter relay turned in a third place finish (4:01.41) composed of Leah Austin, Georgia Delts, Shiobhan Frasier, and Ambria Shaw.

On the field side of the events Sophomore Terry Davis finished first in the triple jump (14.49m), fifth in the high jump (1.90m), and a second place finish in the long jump (7.31m). Junior Kreig Lowe had a fourth place finish in the discus throw (39.98m), a third place place finish in the hammer throw (42.04m), and a second place finish in the shot put (14.14m). Freshman Michael Fowler finished first in the pole vault (4.35m) Sophomore Megan Goodson finished first in the pole vault (3.20m) with fellow sophomore Zoe Engwall finishing in second (3.05m).
