Greenville, SC – The North Greenville University men’s track and field team continued its recent success with a strong performance in the Furman Invitational on Saturday with six first place finishes.
The 4x100 meter relay team was the first winner of the day for North Greenville after posting a time of 43.30 before the 4x400 meter relay team earned a first place finish with a time of 3:36.36. Kylan Steinert showed his strength in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.18 to claim the victory, while Cejay Thomas was runner-up in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.16 and Jacob Simms brought home a runner-up finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.78.
In the field events, North Greenville earned three first place finishes lead by Jared Watkins. Watkins was the victor in both the high jump (6’ 6 ¾”) and the triple jump (39’ 3 ¾”), while Freddie Martino earned a second place finish in the long jump with a flight of 21’ 9 ½”. Justin Bishop claimed the Crusaders’ final first place finish of the day with a throw of 161’ 1” in the javelin throw.
The Crusaders’ final meet will be on April 20-21 when compete in the Conference Carolinas Championship in Banner Elk, NC on the campus of Lees McRae College.
