Cullowhee, NC – The North Greenville University men’s track and field team had an impressive performance in the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic on the campus of Western Carolina.
The Crusaders competed against much bigger schools such as Western Carolina, UNC Asheville and Winthrop but showed they were no slouch in many of the events.
Jared Watkins was the top finishing Crusader as he was the runner-up in the high jump after clearing 6’ 6 ¾”.
In the 800 meter run, Jacob Simms finished fourth overall with a time of 1:54.86, while Justin Bishop placed fifth in his first ever javelin throw with a distance of 161’ 1”.
Freddie Martino also place fifth overall in both the long jump (21’ 10 ¼”) and the triple jump (42’ 9”).
The Crusaders next meet will be on April 4 as they compete in the Gamecock Open Meet in Columbia, SC.
