High Point, N.C. – North Greenville tennis players Sjors van Eck and Fernanda de Lucca were honored as first and second team All-Conference performers Thursday afternoon by Conference Carolinas coaches.
Van Eck cemented himself as one of NGU’s best athletes playing both tennis and soccer. The Netherlands Native, who was the 2016 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, turned in another solid season for the Crusaders, cashing in eight singles wins and just two losses in the #1 position for NGU. Van Eck also turned in five doubles wins for the Crusaders, while finishing third in the league with 96-singles points.
Fernanda de Lucca, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil reeled in her first All-Conference nomination on Thursday after turning in a career best performance in singles play. De Lucca scored 9-wins as a solo player compared to just two losses, ranking her first on the team with 90-points. De Lucca was also a solid teammate in doubles, helping her team to seven doubles victories.
The Crusaders travel to Sumter, South Carolina on Friday to play in the Conference Carolinas championships beginning at 9am.
