Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville men’s tennis put together its best performance of the season thus far on Wednesday, sweeping the Emmanuel Lions 9-0.
The Crusaders swept through Doubles play with a pair of 8-4 wins from Alejandro de la Torre/Dion Nijboer and Sjors van Eck/Edmundo Torres. Gomez and Greaves added an 8-1 in the second position to give NGU a 3-0 lead.
The momentum carried over into singles play, starting with a win from van Eck. Van Eck earned NGU a 4-0 lead with the first singles game of the day, taking a 6-2/6-1 advantage over the Lions first position player. The next score to roll in would be from Nijboer, a 6-1/6-2 victory that clinched the conference win for the Crusaders.
De la Torre (0-6/6-3/10-8), Gomez (6-3/6-2), Greaves (6-3/6-2), and Torres (6-1/6-1) would also earn wins in singles play as North Greenville improved to 2-4 in Conference Carolinas play.
The Crusaders hit the road on Saturday afternoon to take on King University with the first serve coming at 1pm in Bristol, Tennessee.
