Crusaders swept by Division I Furman

Greenville, S.C. – North Greenville fell to Furman University 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference tennis action.

The Paladins swept the doubles to take the opening point against the Crusaders. Senior Adam Steryous and sophomore Jake Munns combined for a 6-0 win over Sjors va Eck and Josh Gomez in the top-seeded contest, and freshmen Trevor Croyder and Clarke Wilson defeated A. de la Torre and William Greazes, 6-3, at flight two.  In the number three contest, sophomore Alex Steryous and freshman Jake Bhangdia beat Dion Nijbor and Edmundo Torres, 6-2.

In singles action, Adam Steryous topped va Eck, 6-0, 6-1, at flight one, and Wilson blanked de la Torre, 6-0, 6-0, at number two.  At flight three, Alex Steryous topped Gomez, 6-1, 6-2, then Munns downed Nijbor, 6-0, 6-3, at number four.  Bhangdia held on for a 6-2, 6-7(7), 1-0(10-6) victory versus Greazes at flight five, and Croyder completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 advantage over Torres at number six.
