North Greenville handed first league loss by Trojans

Mount Olive, N.C. --   North Greenville dropped its first Conference Carolinas match of the season on Friday night, coming up short in an 8-1 decision against Mount Olive.

The Trojans cruised to a 3-0 lead following doubles play, earning wins of 8-7, 8-1, and 8-3.

Sjors van Eck pulled North Greenville to within two as he earned an 8-4 win in the first singles spot. Van Eck’s solo win would be the only victory of the day for the Crusaders as the Trojans swept the next six. Sergio Araujo fell 6-4/7-3, Jose Gomez dropped an 8-3 decision while Alejandro de la Torre fell 6-4/6-0. Marcelo Yshikawa also dropped his frame 8-3 while Edmundo Torres lost 6-1/6-0.

North Greenville fell to 6-6 overall and 4-1 in league play. The Crusaders will travel to Wilson, North Carolina on Saturday to take on the Barton Bulldogs at 1pm.
