Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville Men's tennis won its first Conference Carolinas match of the season, Friday, with a 7-2 decision over Lees-McRae.
Lees-McRae grabbed a 2-1 lead following doubles play as NGU's only tandem win came from Sjors van Eck and Alejandro de la Torre would won their partners set 8-2.
North Greenville rebounded nicely in singles though, sweeping through the Bobcats. van Eck got the rally started as he won his solo match 6-1/6-0. Sergio Araujo gave NGU the lead with a 6-2/6-2 win while Jose Gomez put NGU up two with a 6-2/6-4 win. The deciding game came in the fourth singles match as Torre earned his second win of the day with a 6-2/6-1 win, locking up the league win for the Crusaders.
Marcelo Yshikawa and Edmundo Torres would cap the day with consecutive wins as they earned victories of 6-0/6-0 and 6-1/6-0. North Greenville improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Crusaders will travel to Franklin Springs, Georgia to take on Emmanuel College at 2pm on March 22nd.
