NGU SINGLES STRUGGLE IN LOSS TO LIMESTONE

Tigerville, S.C.—The NGU Men's Tennis Team continued its late season slump on Tuesday afternoon, suffering a 6-3 loss to Limestone College, its fourth defeat in as many matches.

The Crusaders took a 2-1 lead heading into singles play as Jose Gomez and Sergio Araujo got the day started with an 8-4 win. Sjors van Eck and Marcelo Yshikawa followed up with a win of their own as they took an 8-6 win in a closely contested second spot.

NGU would faulter in singles play however, earning just one more win. Sjors van Eck scored the only win of singles play for NGU, opening the one-on-ones with a 6-2/6-0 win. The Saints would go on to take the final five singles sets over NGU, which fell to 6-4 on the season after starting league play 6-0.

The loss to the saints wrapped up the NGU conference schedule with one match against Lander remaining in the regular season. The Crusaders will travel to Hartsville on Thursday for a final tune-up before taking on the Conference Championships on April 24-26.
