CRUSADERS DROP THIRD STRAIGHT CONFERENCE MATCH

Misenhiemer, N.C.—Both the NGU Men's and Women's Tennis Teams fell to 6-3 in Conference Carolinas play on Monday after 6-3 and 9-0 losses to the Falcons of Pfeiffer University.

Pfeiffer swept the NGU women in both doubles and singles on Monday while the men picked up just three wins. The Men scored a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Sergio Araujo and Jose Gomez took an 8-6 win while Santiago Robles and Alejandro de la Torre scored an 8-6 win. The NGU Women were less fortunate as the Falcons took two sets of 8-1 to go along with an 8-2 win in the tandem finale.

Singles play would also be a struggle for the women as the Falcons scored six straight wins. Rebecca Beacham and Maria Vargas fell 6-1/6-1 and 6-1/6-0 while Camille Duhan and Christina Kiessling fell 6-1/6-2 and 6-2/6-3. Aline Ribeiro and Ann Hayden Huxford also lost with scores of -62/6-4 and 7-5/6-0.

The NGU men were able to muster just one win in singles play as the Falcons rebounded from the 2-1 loss in singles. NGU's only win in the solo matches came from Edmundo Torres who came out on top of a hard fought 6-4/4-6/10-4 win to wrap up the Monday Conference Carolinas tilt.

NGU will welcome Young Harris College to Tigerville on April 8th for a 2:30 match at Vance Tennis Complex.
