CRUSADERS CHECK IN AT #7 IN PRESEASON COACHES POLL

High Point, N.C.—The North Greenville men’s tennis team has checked in at number seven in the Conference Carolinas pre-season coaches poll. The Crusaders are ranked behind Barton. Limestone sits at the top as #1 and Mount Olive enters the season as the #2 ranked team, while Pfeiffer, Erskine and King round out the top five.

The Crusaders finished their 2013 season 4-13 overall and 1-9 in the Conference Carolinas under first year head coach, Tomas Kurhajec. The North Greenville men's tennis team has two returning players from last year (Juan Vargas from Colombia and Sergio Araujo Filho from Brazil), and the other eight players are all new to the Crusaders men's tennis team. Kurhajec has recruited several players from different continents, including Lucas de Almeida Silva (Brazil), Jose Daniel Gomez Castillo (Ecuador), Rafael Lenz Gonzalez (Brazil), Andres Santiago Robles Camacho (Colombia), Marcelo Mikio Yshikawa (Brazil), Sjors van Eck (Netherlands), David Bolton (USA) and Jonathan Stanga (USA). Kurhajec believes this new 'freshman' team has a lot of potential to unite quickly and bring home many victories, including the Carolinas Conference Championship.

The Crusaders will open the 2014 tennis season on Thursday, February 6th, at the Troy Park and Recreation Center in Greer against Francis Marion University at 2:00pm.

Come out and support your men's and women's tennis teams!
