CRUSADER'S ROLE PAST PIONEERS

Greer, S.C.—The North Greenville men’s tennis team earned its third consecutive win on Wednesday cruising past the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist 8-0 in non conference action. NGU improved to 4-11 on the season with just two regular season matches remaining. 

Guilherme Ferreira and Sergio Araújo booked the first win of the day for North Greenville with an 8-1 over their SMC counterparts. Hugo Ciarrocchi and Juan Vargas handed the NGU squad a solid 8-0 shutout, extending NGU’s lead to 2-0. James Klempin and John Melson rounded out doubles competition with North Greenville’s second straight 8-0 win.

In singles, Guilherme Ferreira spotted the Crusaders a 4-0 advantage, with a hard fought 7-5/6-2 win. . Hugo Ciarrocchi clinched the win for North Greenville in the following singles game with a 6-0/6-0 win. Araujo, Vargas, Melson, and Klempin also came out on top of their singles matches with 6-0/6-0 decisisons.

The Crusaders remain at 1-7 after Wednesday’s non conference match, but will look to improve their record on April 12th when they travel to Belmont, North Carolina for a league match with the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College.
