Hartsville, S.C.—The North Greenville men’s tennis team continued its 2013 struggles on March 29th, as the Crusaders fell to conference leading Coker College 0-8 in league play. The Cobras are now 9-0 on the season in conference matches while NGU fell to 0-7 in league play.

The Crusaders hung closely with the league best Cobras, as Hugo Ciarrocchi and Juan Vargas were edged out 8-5 in their doubles showdown. Guilherme Ferreira and Sergio Araújo were also edged in their doubles match 9-7 while James Klempin and John Melson dropped an 8-2 decision.

It didn’t get any better for the Crusaders in singles play as the Cobras continued their strong play. Coker took every match in straight sets, including three 6-0/6-0 shutouts.  Ciarrocchi and Arayo lost 6-3/6-1 and 6-3/6-0 while Kelmpin dropped a 6-1/6-0 decision.

The Crusaders fell to 1-11 overall on the season with the loss to Coker. North Greenville will host Benedict College at 2pm on April 2nd and Greer Tennis Center.
