Mobile, Ala. – After outlasting Olivet Nazarene (IL) 5-4 in a final pool play match that lasted almost four hours, the North Greenville men’s tennis team rebounded Wednesday afternoon on two hours rest to beat Campbellsville (KY) 5-0 in the semi-finals to advance to the NCCAA’s national championship match Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
The tournament is being held at the Mobile Copeland-Cox Tennis Center and is hosted by the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau, the City of Mobile, Mobile County, and Cedarville University.
Coach Mark Elliot’s Crusaders got a come-from-behind win over Olivet Nazarene in the final pool play match Wednesday morning that set up the 4:00 p.m. match against Campbellsville. “We didn’t have a lot of gas left in the tank after the Olivet match,” he said. “We were down 2-1 after the doubles against Olivet, but we got wins at #1 and #5 singles that clinched the win for us.”
North Greenville will take on Palm Beach Atlantic in the championship match. Palm Beach Atlantic defeated Olivet 5-4 in the other semi-final, so Elliot expects a tough match in Thursday.
