Wednesday afternoon the men's Crusader tennis went up against the Roberts Wesleyan University Raiders from Rodchester, NY.
Timur Kamilov (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and Kesha Sedov (Moscow, Russia) started the afternoon off great by winning their set of doubles. The guys lost their second set of doubles, but came back to win the third set with Ian Harvic (Snellville, GA) and Thomas Clack (Loganville, GA). This was Clack's first match back in action after being cleared by doctors for his heart condition Tuesday evening. For singles, Kamilov started things out strong, winning the first set of singles for the Crusaders. The second and third sets of singles were lost, but Guilherme Ferreria (Sao Paulo, Brazil) redeemed the Crusaders by winning the fourth set of singles for the team. His efforts were followed by victories in the final two sets of singles played by Harvic and Clack. "Overall I was pleased with the way the team played.", said Head Coach Mark Elliot. "I was glad to have Thomas back, Ian played really well, Guilherme experienced his first win, and Timur, of course, played lights out." As for Luis Campos (Sao Paulo, Brazil), who is still dealing with an ankle injury, will go for an x-ray on Thursday to further assess his condition and determine if he will be able to get back out on the court any time soon. The men will play again on February 25 against Carson Newman College in Tennessee at 2p.m.
