Tennis was at home today in Greer, playing against their close neighbor and formidable opponent Lander University, from Greenwood, SC. Lander brought their “A-game” today and defeated the Crusader men 9-0.
Gabriel Altmayer had a very close match today, only losing 6-4 and 7-5 in his two sets.
The Crusaders have been playing some serious competition these past couple of weeks, with a Conference winner in Shaw University, two NCAA division I teams, the number 22 NCAA division II team in the nation, USC-Aiken, and the number 11 today with Lander. “I like playing a tough schedule – tough teams are a better test and make our players better,” commented Elliot.
The men will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 21 against Greensboro College. Last season the Crusaders were not able to finish their match in Greensboro due to poor weather conditions, but were up before the match was terminated. Hopefully, the men can finish what they started last year, and bring home a win from their trip up north.
