Men's Tennis defeats Wingate

Wingate, N.C.----The North Greenville University tennis teams picked up two NCAA Division II victories over host Wingate University Thursday evening at the Wingate University tennis facility. The NGU men prevailed 7-2, while the Crusader women won by the same score.

The Wingate teams host Brevard College Saturday (1 p.m.), while the North Greenville squads travel to the University of North Alabama Saturday.


Bulldog freshman Hendrik Ternieden picked up a solid 6-1, 6-1 win over North Greenvilleís Tomas Kurhajec at the number one singles flight. The reigning South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, Ternieden has won three singles matches in a row dating to Feb. 15.

Wingate senior Brandon Thornton and freshman Luis Ortiz picked up a point for the Bulldogs with a convincing 8-3 win over North Greenvilleís Juan Carlos Aguilera and Jacob Rogers at the number three doubles flight. Wingate is 0-5 overall on the young season.
