NGU Comes Up Short Against Belmont Abbey

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville fell to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders with a final score of 1-0. In a tale of two halves, BAC dominated the first half in shots 8-1, but NGU came to life in the second half to outshoot Belmont Abbey 8-0. Gareth Greene led in shots with 4, two of them on goal.

Belmont Abbey chose to be aggressive right out of the gate, posting two shots in the first two minutes of the match. About ten minutes into the half, Gareth Greene put up NGU's first shot of the match, which would end up being North Greenville's only shot of the first half. With around six minutes remaining in the first half, BAC would get on the board with a goal by Ryan Cowie. The remainder of the half was uneventful, allowing Belmont Abbey to hold the lead going into halftime.

Ten minutes into the second half, North Greenville put together several opportunities that resulted in a shots by Gareth Greene and Kike Molina. Greene's shot would be saved while Molina's shot bounced off the crossbar to keep NGU scoreless. North Greenville would go on to take six more shots throughout the remainder of the match, but ultimately were unable to find the back of the net.

NGU will head to Murfreesboro, NC to face the Hawks of Chowan University on Saturday, October 26th.
