NGU's two-match winning streak ended at 2 this afternoon with a 1-0 loss to the University of Mount Olive Trojans in Mount Olive, North Carolina. The two teams were nearly even in total shots with the Trojans putting up just one more shot than NGU throughout the day.
Although Mount Olive posted the first shot of the match, North Greenville would get the offense going by putting up the next five shots. Things slowed down from there as North Greenville's next shot would come with just over a minute remaining in the half. However, NGU did lead in shots at the half with six while UMO recorded five.
North Greenville began the second half with an early shot by Zach Baker that was saved. Soon after, Mitchell Backer would follow up with a saved shot of his own. Twenty minutes into the half, Mount Olive would get on the board with a header goal by Mustafa Nadeem. Immediately following the goal, Backer posted a shot that sailed high. Keletso Mathathe recorded NGU's final shot of the match with eighteen minutes remaining, which was on goal but saved. Mount Olive turned to defense and was able to keep the Crusaders from putting together a quality possession for the remainder of the match.
Next up for NGU is a midweek conference match against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Wednesday, October 23rd in Tigerville.
