NGU Unable to Get Going Offensively in Loss to Barton

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville suffered a 2-0 loss to the Bulldogs of Barton College. The Crusaders were unable to put together much of an offensive attack, posting just four shots for the match. Ben Mackay posted two shots while Mitchell Backer and Bryan Castillo-Pina each recorded a shot on goal.

The first shots of the game would come just past the six minute mark with Barton putting up the first shot and the Crusaders quickly responding with one of their own. Around sixteen minutes into the half, Ben Mackay tried to get NGU on the board with a header shot that went wide left. Four minutes later, the Bulldogs were able to get on the board when Halldor Thorsteinsson scored from the close left wing. Around six minutes after that, BC followed up with their second goal, which was scored by Tobias Nielson from inside the box. The Crusaders were quiet for the remainder of the half and would trail 2-0 going into halftime.

Barton would start off the second half with two quick shots. Mackay responded with his second shot of the game, but was blocked. With just over twelve minutes remaining, Bryan Castillo-Pina would put up NGU's final shot that would require a save by Barton's Francisco Noguera. With under two minutes left in the match, the Bulldogs would put the final nail in the coffin with a goal by Luis Hernandez Velasco from the top of the box.

The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, September 25th to face the Saints of Limestone College in Gaffney, SC.
