Tigerville, SC - North Greenville fell to the Catawba Indians with a final score of 4-0 this evening. The Crusaders were able to keep the Indians off the board in the first half, but were unable to repeat that performance in the second half. Dawson Martin recorded nine saves in his first start of the season while Ben Mackay led in total shots with 4.
NGU showed aggression early on, posting three of the first four shots of the match. Both teams would put up quality shots in the first half, but solid defense kept both teams off the board. Shots were fairly even for the half with the Indians recording 11 and the Crusaders posting 6.
The second half proved to be a different story. Early on in the half a penalty kick was saved by Dawson Martin to keep the Indians off the board. However, Catawba did eventually get themselves on the board when Borja Gaspar scored his first goal of the season with an assist by Simone Trentin less than ten minutes into the second half. With around twenty minutes remaining in regulation, a penalty kick by Hunter Faust put Catawba up 2-0. A third goal would be scored by the Indians by Sam Henneberg with an assist by Ben Bielby. With just around thirty seconds remaining, Catawba concluded the match with a fourth goal which was scored by Jonathan Guevera with assists by Joseph Alleron and Joel Hildebrant.
