Marlon Evans set to represent Guam in World Cup qualifier

Tigerville - North Greenville men's soccer alum Marlon Evans represented his home country of Guam on Thursday morning in the team's first World Cup qualifier against Bhutan.

Evans finished up his career at North Greenville this past fall and joined up with the Guam Football Association to gear up for the FIFA World Cup scheduled to be played in 2022.

Bhutan edged Marlon's native Guam 1-0 in full time in a contest that was played Thimphu, a small town high in the Himalayan Mountains. Evans was in the starting line-up for the Blue and Red but Bhutan's score in the 35th minute proved the difference maker. Guam had chances including a penalty kick early in the first half but was unable to capitalize on the moment.

Evans and his squad will take on Bhutan again on June 11th at 1:15 AM local time.
