The North Greenville Crusaders nearly stunned the Division I Liberty Flames in an exhibition match in Lynchburg, VA. With the Flames leading 1-0, NGU scored a game-tying goal with 36 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. Although Liberty scored the golden goal to win 2-1, the Crusaders certainly impressed on a big stage.
Liberty quickly put together a header goal in the 7th minute of the game.
Although the Flames put up 20 shots in the match, the Crusader defense held together for the remainder of regulation.
With just 36 seconds remaining, Casey Brady connected for a goal with an assist by Will Moy to force overtime.
From there Liberty made quick work of things, scoring the winning goal just over a minute into the first overtime period.
Noah Kendrick impressed at goalkeeper, saving 6 shots and allowing just 2 goals.
Casey Brady's only shot of the night resulted in the game-tying goal.
Will Moy provided an assist.
The Crusaders will remain in Lynchburg, VA to face Randolph College in the final preseason exhibition match on Sunday, August 26th.
