Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville turned in a strong performance on Saturday but the 21st ranked Pfeiffer Falcons survived, chalking up a 1-0 win over the Crusaders.
The first half remained scoreless as NGU’s defense held one of the nation’s best offenses in check. North Greenville starting keeper James Max Miller accounted for two saves during the opening half before Pfeiffer’s Nathan Regis broke the scoreless tie in the 43rd minute with an assist from Martim Galvao.
North Greenville would be un-deterred in the second half, picking up the offensive pressure but the Falcons escaped any damage from Crusaders. Casey Brady had the best look for the Crusaders in the 87th minute but Pfeiffer keeper Tomas Correa came up with the save to preserve the shutout.
North Greenville fell to 1-7-1 on the season after the loss to the Falcons who improve to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in Conference Carolinas play. North Greenville remains winless in league play with one tie.
The Crusaders will travel to Belmont Abbey on October 12th for a 7:30pm kickoff.
