Crusaders downed by Lees-McRae in home opener

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville was shut out in its home opener against Lees-McRae College on thursday with a final score of 3-0.

What started off as a closely competitive half between the Crusaders and the Bobcats quickly turner toward the favor of LMC as they pulled away when Lees-McRae’s Pol Vassart put two in the net, once at the 34th minute and once at the 37th minute to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The second half started off competitive as both offenses were moving the ball up field. The Bobcats went up three in the 63rd minute as Thomas Deeley scored off an unassisted goal. North Greenville’s Jonny Lind and Matthew Woodington broke away several times in the second half but couldn’t get anything going for the Crusaders in the second half.

Casey Brady had NGU’s lone shot on goal which ended up in the hands of LMC’s goalkeeper Tyler Pavlet. Mateo Barzola ended the game with 14 saves more than doubling his season total of 11, Barzola now has 25 saves on the season.

The Crusaders are 0-3 overall and 0-2 in league play. 

The Crusaders will travel to Wilson, North Carolina on Saturday September 17, 2016 to take on the Barton College Bulldogs.
