Tigerville, S.C. - The NGU Men's Soccer Team was left searching for its first Conference Carolinas win of the season on Tuesday, after a 2-0 loss to Belmont Abbey College.

Mateo Barzola continued to be a solid presence in the net for North Greenville, stopping seven shots on goal. Barzola upped his saves total to 70 for the season to lead all NGU keepers.

NGU's offense was unable to offer much pressure during Tuesday's game, finishing with just two shots on goal. BAC keeper Luke Whelan was able to get hands on both shots as he finished with two saves.

BAC jumped ahead less than 15 minutes into the game, when Declan McQuillan broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 11th minute. Jonny Lind looked to even the tally in the first half with one of NGU's two shots but the effort came up short as NGU headed to the half, down 1-0.

The Crusaders found the net once more in the second period on a shot from Grant Retamar. Retamar's one timer found the back of the net four minutes into the second period, earning BAC a 2-0 advantage. Sjors van Eck tried to cut the deficit to one with a shot in the 83rd minute, but Welan once again came up with a save, as he was credited with Abbey's third win of the season.

The Crusaders fell to 0-9 in Conference Carolinas play and 2-12 overall. North Greenville will host Barton College on Saturday in the final regular season game of 2015. Kickoff between NGU and the Bulldogs is scheduled for 3p.m. in Pepsi Stadium.
