Tigerville, S.C. Despite a valiant comeback effort, the Crusaders drop their fifth straight game by a final score of 3-2 to the Erskine College Flying Fleet.
The Flying Fleet opened the scoring early in the first half with a goal by Ross Henderson in the second minute. Henderson would add to the Flying Fleet's total later in the first half as he scored again in the 18th minute.
The Crusaders would regroup at halftime and come out firing in the second half. Erskine held North Greenville at bay for most of the second half until Asa Wolfe broke through and scored in the 79th minute. Andres Cakar added a second goal for North Greenville in the very next minute, leveling the score at two apiece.
The comeback attempt would end in the 87th minute as Erskine's Darnell Oliver would score the third goal for the Flying Fleet. The Crusaders pushed for a tying goal in the final minutes but couldn't find one, and Erskine escaped with the victory.
The loss drops North Greenville's record to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in Conference Carolinas. The team returns to the pitch on September 25 in Gaffney to take on Limestone College, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
